About CA

CA Foundation is the entry-level examination for the Chartered Accountancy program. It acts as the first step towards becoming a CA and is open to students from all academic backgrounds.

Who is Eligible for CA Foundation?

You must have passed your Class 12th from a recognized board. The course is inclusive and welcomes students from any stream.

Graduates and postgraduates are exempted from the CA Foundation and can directly register for the CA Intermediate level.

The CA Foundation course typically spans around six months from the date of registration to the exam.

  • Paper 1: Accounting

  • Paper 4: Business Economics

CA Intermediate is the second level of the Chartered Accountancy course, taken after completing the CA Foundation or directly after graduation.

Eligibility for CA Intermediate

You can register for CA Intermediate if you’ve:

  • Passed the CA Foundation, or

  • Are a graduate/postgraduate, using the Direct Entry Route via the ICAI website.

The syllabus is divided into two groups, each with three papers (total of 6 subjects). Each paper carries 100 marks.

  • Paper 5: Advanced Accounting

  • Paper 6: Corporate and Other Laws

  • Paper 7: Taxation

  • Paper 8: Cost and Management Accounting

  • Paper 9: Auditing and Assurance

  • Paper 10: Financial Management and Strategic Management

CA Final is the last and most prestigious level of the Chartered Accountancy program, completed after CA Intermediate and articleship training.

Eligibility to Appear for CA Final

To appear for the CA Final exam, a student must:

  • Have cleared CA Foundation and CA Intermediate

  • Have completed or be in the process of completing 2.5 to 3 years of articleship under a practicing Chartered Accountant

  • Have completed the Four Weeks of Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS)

  • Hold a valid registration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)

  • Mode of Exam: Written examination conducted offline at ICAI-approved centers

  • Exam Frequency: Held twice a year – in May/June and November/December

  • Exam Criteria: Minimum 40% in each paper and 50% aggregate in a group to pass

The CA Final level is divided into two groups, each consisting of three papers:

  • Paper 11: Financial Reporting
